Power Meter with FanThe Power – Energy – Cost Meter can be used as a stand-alone instrument or it may be connected to the PC with a serial link if data logging, graphical output and/or analysis are required. When connected to the PC it is also possible to display the additional quantity total cost since switch-on.

When connected to the PC the user can choose what quantities to graph and/or display in a table and/or display as a meter. The software has been integrated into the core ALBA software and consequently all the usual software tools are available should they be required.

Power Meter GraphsThe unit is supplied with a serial cable and manual that contains suggestions for investigations e.g. connect a TV and find how much it costs to run for an hour. Now put it on standby - how much does it cost now? If a family left a TV on standby for 8 hours overnight how much would cost per day and per year? If 1 million households did this how much money is wasted? This can now lead onto interesting discussions on fossil fuels, greenhouse gases...

The maximum current that can be measured is 13A ac.

The Power – Energy – Cost Meter has been designed for unity power factor loads.

Users who do not have a serial port on their laptop should use a USB/Serial lead.
